Helmut Gerlach is the chair of Kelleher & Buckley, LLC’s corporate practice group, which also includes commercial real estate. In general, Helmut is a solutions-orientated strategist focused on building consensus while meeting objectives, balancing risks, and applying sound judgment in challenging business environments. He has over 20 years of legal and over 30 years of business transaction experience in the US and internationally, comprising more than 60 countries.  Helmut is bi-lingual and proficient in negotiating and drafting in German and English. 

Helmut’s practice focuses on corporate and transactional matters, including mergers & acquisitions, business succession structuring, complex contracting, commercial finance and securities, intellectual property and technology licensing, sale and procurement and employment.  Additionally, he is well-versed in compliance and ethics regarding economic and trade sanctions. His experience covers a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, technology, banking, medical, dental, gaming, insurance, logistics/transportation, construction, commercial real estate, retail, hospitality and hotels.

Helmut gives back to the community and has been providing pro-bono services for local churches and Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley, for which he has been serving as General Counsel since 2005.  He has a disciplined approach to all transactions, further strengthened during his time in the military (NATO) from which he received an honorable discharge.

After a tremendous 22 years together, David Buckley and Andrew Kelleher, founding members of Kelleher & Buckley, LLC, have decided to amicably split into two distinct law firms. The creation of these new firms will allow each company to follow their individual roadmap to success and maximize their clients’ experience.

We are excited to announce both partnerships: K&B equity member Robert Holland will partner with Andrew Kelleher to form Kelleher + Holland, LLC. Similarly, equity member Linda Fine will join David Buckley to create Buckley Fine, LLC. All of our current attorneys, paralegals and staff will be taking this journey with us.

The separation is effective September 1, 2020, at which point Kelleher & Buckley will no longer be providing legal services. During this transition, you can continue to expect the high quality of service you have always received from us as we shift to our new partnerships.
